Ubisoft has finally announced the release date for its upcoming open-world game – Watch_Dogs. The game will be hitting store shelves on November 22, and will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It will also be available for the PlayStation 4 at launch, as well as other next-gen systems.
In Watch_Dogs, players will assume the role of Aiden Pearce, a new type of vigilante who, with the help of his smartphone, will use his ability to hack into Chicago’s central operating system (ctOS) and control almost every element of the city. Aiden will be able to tap into the city’s omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control systems such as traffic lights or public transportation to stop a chase, and more. The city of Chicago is now the ultimate weapon.
There are four different editions of the game to choose from, which offer a variety of physical and digital content related to the game. These include the Dedsec Edition, the Vigilante Edition, the Uplay Exclusive Edition and the Special Edition.
Might end up being frighteningly analogous to the real world
The Dedsec Edition of the game is only available at UK retailers and includes a 23cm figurine of protagonist Aiden Pearce, a steelbook, a DedSec Collector Box, an artbook, the original soundtrack, a map of the game’s version of Chicago, a set of four collectible cards with augmented reality, and a set of three badges. It also contains extra single player missions, including the Palace Pack, the Breakthrough Pack and Signature Shot.
The Vigilante Edition, much like the Dedsec Edition, is only available in the UK, and includes a Vigilante Collector box, Aiden Pearce’s cap, Aiden Pearce’s mask, and the soundtrack. The digital content included in the pack is just the Palace Pack mission.
The Uplay Exclusive Edition is available all over the world, but can only be bought through Ubisoft’s Uplay store. It contains a steelbook and all three mission packs.
The Special Edition, available only in the UK, doesn’t have any physical goodies, but it does include the Breakthrough Pack mission.
Of course, you can simply buy the standard edition of the game and pick up the extra missions as DLC when Ubisoft later releases them for the public. As of now, the company hasn’t announced any pricing for the game, but expect the console versions to cost the standard Rs 2,999.
