Las Vegas is going to be the place to be in a few days and ViewSonic isn't going to miss out on any of the action. Sources say they're ready to show off their latest creation, a 4G Android phone/tablet hybrid. This device will have a 4-inch screen (so why the tablet tag?) and will support 4G as well (no prizes for guessing that one).
Now, we've already seen the Dell Streak , and it created quite a buzz because of it's 'in between' size and features, but unfortunately it came to India with Android 1.6, which was quite annoying. And even though updates for the Streak are available, they're still not easily to get in India. ViewSonic's new Android offering better have something special to talk about, as just promises of 4G support aren't going to be enough as it's still not easily available on a global scale. Their recently released Viewpad 7 , which we just reviewed, was not that impressive for the price as it was pretty much the same as the OlivePad.
I wonder what features this hybrid device will have apart from 4G, because that will be completely useless in India as of this moment. For now, we're still waiting on 3G services to be available for everyone, and that wait has taken long enough as it is. But Viewsonic does have a loyal following in these parts so I'm anxious to see how this one will fare after the Viewpad 7 failed to stand out. According to another source, ViewSonic will also be releasing two more tablets at CES 2011.
