Forget 3D, set your sights on smell. Smell-O-Vision's bringing SmellScape, a contraption about the size of a toaster that you can hook up to your gaming dungeon and you'll be able to smell your game. Which means, if you're walking through a field of mustard, you'll smell the flowers (hello, Bollywood? See benefit?). What I'm hoping is that you'll also be able to smell decay when shooting people.
This contraption will come out later this year and will sell for $70. ScentSciences has programmed 20 different scents into the contraption (including the smell of victory apparently). The contraption will also feature a scent editing app that will allow users to create their own scents and share them with other players.
Smell-O-Vision's also trying to pencil in home videos and movies for SmellScape since it's one more sense that can be applied to visual media. Let's see how much users like that. Let's also see touch and taste duke it out to be the next sense in line for visual media.
