A couple of weeks ago we heard that YouTube was gearing up for a big push into the movie sector. They announced that movies would soon be available to their audiences on demand for online rental. That promise has now come true as YouTube has reecently updated their blog stating that they have started adding around 3,000 new movie titles for rent.
As of now this service is available only to users in the U.S., but it’s highly unlikely that it won’t expand exponentially soon, so let’s just have a little patience. The movies that will be available for streaming will be accompanied by reviews and behind-the-scenes movie extras. ‘If you’re going to do something, I guess you may as well do it right’ seems to be the motto here. Whether it’s short movie trailers, movie parodies or full-length films, YouTube is dedicating itself to offering a full plethora of services for your dollar (at the moment). However, YouTube's Movie section already has plenty of Free movies to choose from for live streaming so we can wait it out a little longer.

It doesn’t just end with movie rentals as some of YouTube’s 20,000+ partners—like Machinima, Annoying Orange and Ryan Higa—are producing original content for the web and commanding TV-size audiences for their own brand of programming. YouTube’s online content share will expand and grow thanks to their initiatives like the YouTube Creator Institute and YouTube NextUp.
Movie rentals just got easier with YouTube leading the way. The big question is, how soon will it be before the Indian audiences get the benefits of this new service? My guess is, not too long. Stay tuned.
