Popular social networking game developer, Zynga, which has games like Farmville and Mafia Wars to its credit, has been sued by Agincourt Gaming for allegedly infringing on two of their patents. AginCourt Gaming, a Texas-based company is a relatively new entrant in the social gaming space has one of its own games, Pantheon, on Facebook.
According to a case filed with the District Court in Delaware, the two patents that have been stated as the ones infringed by Zynga date back to 1996. The patent in question talks about a feature in Zynga-owned games that allow players to redeem virtual prizes in games. In the complaint filed on Wednesday, it is being learnt that Agincourt Gaming has asked Zynga to shut down as many as 12 of its games, which include the highly popular virtual farming game, Farmville and the thrilling gangster game, Mafia Wars.
